Jake's Place

House Rules
Jake's Place is a 100% Non-Smoking Residence. No smoking is allowed in any inside space. We're sticklers about this one because we want all of our guests to have a healthy retreat. Please keep this in mind.

While we truly love animals, please understand that for the comfort of all of our guests throughout the seasons, pets are generally not allowed at Jake's Place - if you have special needs or a special pet you'd like to discuss with us, please Contact Us.

We also love kids, and they're definitely welcome at Jake's Place. We've got games, DVDs, sleds, kid-friendly kitchenware and bunk beds to accommodate little ones. The side yard sits off the street and is the perfect location for building a snowman or making snow angels.

Just because Jake's Place is kid-friendly doesn't mean that it's not a haven for adults to get away for a romantic, fun, and relaxing getaway. On the contrary, you'll find that the lodgey feel of Jake's Place - from the cozy living room to the private hot tub room - is great for grown-ups without kids too! The short walk from Main Street, Lake Placid also allows for a safe walk home from downtown after a night on the town.

History
Jake's Place was built in 1971, shortly before the 1980 Winter Olympics came to Lake Placid. It was custom built by Ray Pratt, Director of Sports for the 1980 Winter Olympics. Jake's Place hosts many original details which make it a true Adirondack home. Both the living room and kitchen/dining room, as well as the halls are warmly enriched by knotty pine walls and vaulted ceilings with hand hewn beams.

Jake's Place was owned by the Pratts until 2000, and has only had a total of three owners in its 35 year history, and has been meticulously maintained. While most of the home remains original, we have made several improvements in the last few months, including the addition of a full Master Bath, new carpeting and paint throughout. We've also added all new furnishings, bedding, kithenware and decor - rather than many rentals where owners provide you with their old, used, beat up stuff.

Jake's Place is named after our hero, Jake, of Life is Good (tm) fame. We've always embraced a Life is Good philosophy, and for us, Jake represents this. What better place on earth to celebrate just how good life is than Lake Placid? As you'll see from Jake's own Life is Good (tm) website, Jake is a big fan of the outdoors and all of the activities that people can do in Lake Placid.
